Ezbet el Haggana pt.2

I and partner met with our NGO at their Ezbet el Haggana office were according to my understanding, were suppose to be attending a training that was organized for women against violence. We got there at about noon on Tuesday and the place was empty except the people that worked at the office. To be honest, I did not know what to expect so i was expecting someone to direct us to an office we some sort of training was going on but instead we were directed to a table to have a sit. We were then approached by a young lady called Mona who is a psychologist and works with Al-Shehab to help women who are undergoing post-traumatic stress due to physical abuse. I frankly was not interested in what she was saying because I already knew what a psychologist does and my primary objective was to offer as much assistance as possible with any work available. It soon became clear to me that there was nothing we could do and we were just briefed by the psychologist about her duties as if we were judges trying to evaluate her.

After our discussion ended, my partner asked we could be given a tour around the slum area just to see for ourselves what was really happening to people but the request was declined because exposing us to the people would put us in a very dangerous position because we were prone to attacks they said. Also, the fact that the area had zero security, there was no one to protect us in the events of any attack. Another request by my partner to be present with Mona when she was having one of her sessions with the women was declined because one, that meant we would be invading the privacy of the women, and secondly, these were very private matters that they share with Mona because they have built trust between them and her and we were nothing but strangers who will do nothing but make their situation more difficult.

At the end of our round-table conversation, Mona walked us outside to our cab were i saw something very ironic. This area had no security meaning no police presence whatsoever but there was a police truck that brought a broken-down police motorcycle to fix. 50% of the labor work i see going on here is mechanical which is fact to prove that these people are gifted but they lack the opportunity to efficiently make use of their gifts.
